STI ICT Distance Learning

Distance education, or distance learning, is a field of education that focuses on the pedagogy and andragogy, technology, and instructional systems design that aim to deliver education to students who are not physically "on site". Rather than attending courses in person, teachers and students may communicate at times of their own choosing by exchanging printed or electronic media, or through technology that allows them to communicate in real time and through other online ways[2]. Distance education courses that require a physical on-site presence for any reason including the taking of examinations is considered to be a hybrid or blended course of study.

In the tradition of STI Ortigas-Cainta they had adopted technology as an essential tool for education. Through the use of this technology it has made learning more easily and efficient to the students. ICT Distance Learning System is developed to compete with other Learning system available in the net. The system is patterned on the schools own way of educating but with the help of technology as an aid. The system is designed to extend the service of the school in bringing education closer to the people. It is designed s connect geographically separated people and interact through the assistance of communication technology. The system was design for domestic clients only, but if the company is willing to support the needs of the system then it can accommodate international clients. The system has additional features that would make learning more efficient and economical for the students. It has an additional video tutorial on selected modular topic that shows a step-by-step procedure of the tutorial’s topic depending on the course that the student has enrolled. It has other additional features such as forum, account message and conference room that would be essential for the learning process of the students. The system is designed to improve the schools approach on delivering education on a larger scale.

Electronic learning or eLearning is a general term used to refer to computer-enhanced learning. It is used interchangeably in so many contexts that it is critical to be clear what one means when one speaks of 'eLearning'. In many respects, it is commonly associated with the field of advanced learning technology (ALT), which deals with both the technologies and associated methodologies in learning using networked and/or multimedia technologies.
